why a router is provided an address (m not talking about the address of the interface where the router is connected to a network) and what kind of address it is?

does this answer you?
router (for that matter even switches) can be assigned addresses.
its used for telnet (which intern is used for remote administration).

since they route, they must also be having IPs right?
