Boat - Lake - Monster
Your are in a boat at the centre of a circular pond of radius 'r'. You can travel with velocity 'v' in any direction possible in pond. There is a monster standing on the periphery of the pond ( obviously he is waiting for you to come out, so that he can eat you!! ). The moment you start your boat, the monster starts moving along the periphery at a speed of '4v' in any direction he prefers. Now the best part! What would be your strategy, so that, you can come out alive of the pond and be assured that the monster is not gonna eat you?

Re: Boat - Lake - Monster
since w=vr
so for a person
he has to move around at radius r/4 has only its angular sped is equal to that of monster
v=w/r=4w/r
for monster velocity will be
v=4w/r
thus at point when it found that it is just opp to the monster should cross river straight

its just that u can revolve faster with the same speed when you are closer to the center.
( (4v/r) < (v/chosen_radius) )
so u choose a radius that is little lesser than r/4.
but the ultimate aim is that to get out of river.
time equation:
( (r-chosen_radius)/v < (pie/4v)*radius)
since we follow the inequality we can reach before the monster does.
as soon as u see the monster diametrically opposite.
u take a straight path out of lake while he has to come along the boundary.
